Story 99

Hey, my name is Liel, I am 16 years old and I would like to tell you about my experience from 7th October. I live far away from the Gaza Strip and the border area, so I didn’t know what was happening. At 9 AM, my family and I planned to have a BBQ to celebrate our “Simchat Tora” holiday. Instead of it, my mother woke me up trying not to cry, telling me we had entered a war. My sister was getting ready to enlist in the reserves. My mother prepared food for her, I washed her clothes and gave her a book of Psalms. A night before, my boyfriend, who lives in a war zone, slept at my home. When he woke up, he cared about his family and friends. He discovered that two of his friends were murdered at the “Nova” party, which was the big party near the border with Gaza. I was in agitation and cried endlessly. He was forced to stay at my home because the trains couldn’t work in the country.

A week later, the situation got worse, and my boyfriend had to go back home. His parents went to pick him up, it was very difficult for us because we didn’t know when we could see each other, we were completely dependent on trains, and it was too dangerous to drive in them.

Nowadays, my sister serves in the reserves in the north, my boyfriend comes to my home once every two weeks and I continue crying, but less. Unfortunately, I learned to live with the war and hope that it will end soon and that all of the abducted will return home.
